I've been an absolutely awful blogger lately (and pretty much always). Sometimes I just don't know if my heart is really in it despite doing it for years on and off, but usually I prefer to focus on my Instagram and I've also been toying with the idea of starting back up on YouTube. Let me know what you think! I did manage to get all of my Europe travel photos up though in case you haven't seen them (see Paris here and London here). I also got a little burst of inspiration and wanted to show off some of the new makeup items I've picked up recently, so here goes.
First up, something I'm super excited about as it had been out of stock for ages - the Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette. I'm a huge fan of red/pink eyeshadow looks and these are absolutely perfect for that. There are some nice matte brown shades as well if you're into a more natural look. They're all very pigmented and overall Anastasia never disappoints.
Something else I was really excited about is the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette. I was able to pick it up at Boots while I was in London after seeing countless bloggers talking about it and they were completely right about how good it is! It comes with four shades - three rosy/pinkish ones and a cream one which is amazing for the brow bone. They're insanely pigmented and so good for the price. My favorite is the top right pink one as I always like to go for an extra bit of crazy.
Next up, the Milk Holographic Stick in the shade Supernova. Another thing I'm absolutely obsessed with - guess I've done well picking things out lately! This was pretty hard to get and I think it's usually sold out but my friend works at Sephora and was able to grab one for me, bless her. It's an extremely pigmented creamy purple highlighter which I'm sure isn't for everyone but is absolutely perfect for me. It comes in a sort of roll on tube, so you just swipe it across your cheekbones and you're done. It really does look holographic as the name suggests and I like to add my Jeffree Star Lavender Snow highlighter on top of it as well for an extra pop of purple.
Something that isn't quite new to me but I wanted to include is the Nyx Wonder Stick in the shade Light. I picked this up at Ulta because I was interested in trying out a cream contour and I wanted to start off with something more affordable and it's really changed the way I do my makeup! I've never really been able to master a good contour and this makes it so much easier for me - just draw it on and it blends really nicely. I wouldn't say it's super pigmented but I think that's a good thing because it allows you to build it up for a night out or just use a little when you want a more natural look. I have to admit I don't use the highlighting side at all so I can't say much about that.
I also discovered the Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Eyeshadow and I chose the shade Magnetic, which is a beautiful glittery purple. I've been wanting to try more purple eyeshadow looks as I think it goes nicely with my hair and I've been thinking about my NYE makeup as well. This is perfect for a night out and it's just so gorgeous and sparkly. It has a sort of brush for an applicator, almost like a nail polish one, but it makes it easy to just kind of paint it on your eyelids. They have a bunch of other shades as well - I want them all!
Last up, I picked up a little pot of silver Nyx Face and Body Glitter. I had NYE in mind when I got this as well and it's just a little thing of loose silver glitter. Unfortunately their glitter primer was sold out but I put it on top of the UD Moondust shadow and it stuck really well. I had never actually put loose glitter on myself before but it was pretty easy to do. I just wet my brush and packed it on - I did my eyeshadow before the rest of my face as there was quite a bit of fall out. I was afraid it would take me ages to get it off but it came off really easily with a makeup wipe.
Milk Holographic Stick, UD Liquid Moondust Eyeshadow, Sleek pink highlighter (didn't show up that great)
Here's the look I just put on my Instagram - I used the purple shadows from the Jeffree Star Beauty Killer palette for the crease, the UD Liquid Moondust shadow on the lid, the Nyx glitter over that, and then the Jeffree Star liquid lipstick in Posh Spice. Also wearing my new UNIF Dame Choker.
